Motorin’

I went to a multi-stare (the sign said multi-stare, but it should have read multi-stake) YSA activity yesterday. They were not checking IDs and I’ve always passed for much younger than I am, plus I went with my bishop’s uber-cool daughters and a girl who is meeting with the missionaries.

I have deeper things to say about the experience as a whole, but this post is all about the pics. The first part of the activity was watching the Woodland Dream Cruise from the lawn of the biggest stake center I have ever seen in my life. I wanted to get a picture of the stake center, but I procrastinated and ended up not taking one. But trust me, it is a giant stake center. So here are some of the wonderful cars we saw in the 90 minutes we sat in the cool, cool, cool of the evening.

Okay, okay, just kidding. Here are some of the better, cooler cars. It was really fun, but I’ve never felt so voyeuristic before. I’ve always been a people watcher, but when the cars are creeping along at 5-10 miles per hour, the people inside the cars watch back! They waved at us, took pictures of us, it was all very weird. But fun-weird.

Some of the car owners get creative and use the cruise he advertise. This guy has his own t-shirt business, which he used mannequins to display samples.

And not just in the bed of the El Camino-type car, but…

The Detroit Temple is right next to the giant stake center, and I did take a picture of the temple. It looks just like all the other small temples:

More to come on the overall experience…
