Prompt: Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself.
My favorite thing about myself. Not an easy topic. I have really great hair, even in the middle of winter when I’m wearing a hat. But that feels superficial. I’m a decent accompanist, a passable baker, an average singer, a good writer. With such middling adjectives, I’m not sure they should qualify as my favorite things about myself. So how about this?
I can learn how to do different things, and I can do them fairly well. This really is my favorite thing about myself, because it means I have unlimited possibilities. I have an exceptional brain that allows me to love learning, and an ambitious personality that craves meeting goals. These two elements provide me with confidence that I otherwise would not possess.
This isn’t something I brag about, and it wasn’t the first thing to pop into my head. But the next time someone asks me what my favorite thing is about myself, I’m glad I have an answer that’s a bit more substantive than “I have great hair.”
