A Break.

Today I’m grateful that I spent the whole day engaged in pursuits that had nothing to do with grading or lesson planning. In fact, I don’t think I ever thought “I should be home grading…”

Instead, I just enjoyed where I was, which was a different kind of teaching. I helped at our music teacher association’s Keyboard Karnival. It’s basically a day where students can show their music theory prowess. My nieces participated, so I got to spend time with them and eat lunch with them. I don’t do that often enough.

And now I’m going to OD on BYU Sports while I clean:

  • Women’s Soccer is in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament (which, thanks to the magic of Roku, I’m able to watch).
  • Men’s Basketball is in the consolation game of the Coaches vs. Cancer classic (which, thanks to the magic of the KSL radio app, I’m able to listen to).
  • Football plays San Jose State in a couple of hours (which again, thanks to the magic of the KSL app, I’m able to listen to).

So grateful for the break today. Sometimes it’s nice to remember I’m much more than my classroom.
