25 Days of Christmas: Day 14

It has been a week, I tell you what. Every night has been busy and not at all conducive to watching movies.

Tonight, though, as I can hardly move (threw out my back this morning flat-ironing my hair…don’t ask…), I was able to pick up where I left off.

I watched “A Charlie Brown Christmas”–something I had not watched since my very young days. My sisters and I have for years mocked “Christmas Time Is Here” by singing in a high, off-key voice. I didn’t realize we were actually pretty spot-on in our interpretation.

My sister said I was Lucy growing up, and that might have been true, but I certainly feel more like Charlie Brown now. I enjoyed watching this Christmas classic tonight, with my own pathetic little tree twinkling out of the corner of my eye.

And in light of today’s tragedy in Connecticut, I can’t bring myself to post a cynical, sad Christmas song. So instead, this Christmas song that sounds so hopeful and happy in its major key and invocation of God’s help, but the lyrics clearly acknowledge just how cruddy the world can be at times.
