My parents are busy, busy people, and every spring for the past few years, even though they have the best of intentions, planting a garden just hasn’t happened. It’s really not a big deal, except that they have a small plot that by mid-July becomes infested with weeds and baby maple trees.
After a couple of hours in the heat last July with my nephews and sister, I vowed that I would not be pulling baby maples in mid-July this year, and I helped them plant a garden this year. It was just one short month ago that we planted it, and here is what it looks like now:

This is one of TWO zucchini plants. And this is ONE month of growth.
I might be sending out lots of zucchini bread in September…
