I wasn’t happy that I woke up at 7 AM, especially since I’d set my alarm for 9. But I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I grabbed the morning paper, made breakfast, retreated to my bed and watched an episode of The West Wing while I breakfasted.
I lazed around, watching a couple of shows that had piled up on my TiVo, and then had Pit rehearsal from 12-3.
We’re starting to sound like a decent group of musicians, though I have a lot of work to do. It’s challenging music in ridiculous keys, but I try not to complain too much, because it makes me a better pianist, and it’s important to me that I practice what I preach to my piano students.
I left pit and went straight to my sister’s, even though I could have (should have?) come home and worked for a couple of hours. We celebrated my niece’s 3rd birthday today. We played and chatted and snuggled and ate, and I finally left around 7 PM.
The BYU game just got over, and I haven’t done laundry or graded a single paper today–and I don’t think I’m going to now. Sure, that means I’ll have to work a little tomorrow so I don’t fall completely behind, but it’ll be worth it, since I spent a solid 4 hours with my family today–something that just doesn’t happen often enough.
I need to spend more Saturdays not working–and next Saturday I’m working Saturday School, so I’ll be forced into working for at least four hours. And the next three weeks are incredibly busy–not a break in sight.
The essays can wait, and I can do laundry tomorrow.
I like these Saturdays.
