Running. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

I’m not often grateful for my body. In fact quite the opposite. I’m a master at picking out its flaws and rarely celebrate what it can do. Like wake up at 5:45 every morning and keep going–sans nap–until 10 or 11 at night.

Faithful readers will remember that I “ran” a 5K two years ago, and last year I decided to log 100 miles via trails and treadmills. I really do not like running, but somehow it keeps worming its way into my life.

A friend told me how she’s working on the Couch to 5K program, something I’ve actually never tried. And seeing as it’s the holiday season and I don’t plan on not eating cheesecake or chocolate or cranberry walnut bagels from Panera, it feels like perfect timing to try an actual training program instead of just, you know, getting out there.

So today I’m grateful for a body that isn’t perfect but can still pretend to run when I make it run.
