25 Days of Christmas: Day 18

I finished all grading in my possession while at school today, and I felt queasy all day (there is a nasty flu running rampant through school) so I was home at 4 (can’t remember the last time that happened), rested for a while, then settled in to watch today’s movie: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

I’d never seen it before–or if I had, I was so young I had forgotten it. As I watched the opening credits, I was encouraged, because John Hughes wrote the screenplay! By the middle of the film, it was clear he wrote it for a paycheck.

Or maybe I don’t have a sense of humor.

Or maybe I’ve become a movie snob and if a film doesn’t have a clear plot and character development, the film is not worth my time. Christmas Vacation was just a string of gags, that maybe if I was more tired (if that’s even possible at this point) or with goofy people, I’d have thought it a bit funnier.

It won’t be on next year’s list, that’s for sure.

Today’s sad song: a real, honest, legitimate one for Deanne. Since I’ve faked her out so many times before.

  1. Yayayayayayayayay!!!!! You hate National Lampoon's, too!

And this song is so beautiful. Ugh I love it with an irrational love. I didn't realize it was a sad song until this very moment in time. And for some reason, it makes me love it more.
