When I accepted my principal’s offer to advise the Newspaper, I was mostly worried about my stress level. I forgot to consider how great the kids can be in that type of environment.
Every year, The Key Club asks school organizations to decorate a basket and donate food for a Thanksgiving dinner to give to a family in need. So I asked my newspaper staff if they would be interested, and they said they’d love to.
So Tuesday, I took an empty paper box and some construction paper to class. I put it on the table in the center of the room and said, “Here. Make it pretty. Do some hand turkeys or cut out some leaves or something.”
And I settled at my desk and started to work.
By the end of class today, here’s what the paper box looked like:
Today I’m grateful for students who are capable of way more than I sometimes expect. I’m so lucky to be able to work with them.
