For the Good Doctor

I was out to dinner tonight with some of the finest people I know, and one of them said, “You haven’t blogged in a while.”

I’d actually been thinking about that very fact all week. It’s the first week of summer vacation, and not a whole lot is going on.

I’m reading Bossypants, by Tina Fey. (Hilarious, by the way!)
I’m teaching myself how to use Adobe InDesign. (Eh….slow going, but happening)
I’m making plans for next school year. (Spent three hours today alone working on Newspaper)

I’m not watching a whole lot of TV. I find it curious that during the school year, when I have so much work to do and am completely swamped, I am borderline addicted to television. Now that I have all the time in the world, the TV has barely been on. I’ve watched The Daily Show, and the NBA Finals, and that’s it. Even though I still have a TiVo bursting at the seams (still haven’t watched the last episode of Oprah), I’m finding other things to do with my time.

I’m also not sleeping in a whole lot. Part of this is my own fault for not buying drapes for my east-facing bedroom window. So when it is sunny–and ironically, it’s only sunny in the morning lately–I am awake sometime between 6:15 and 7 AM. I love love love sleeping in, so this sun business is really getting on my nerves.

But overall, it’s a nice start to the summer break. I am relaxed. I’m enjoying the slower pace, even though I occasionally feel waves of panic about next year. Life is good.
