One of my faults as a teacher–if it really can be classified as a fault–is that I tend to go a little heavy on exposing my students to women writers. Of all the books I’ve read with my students this year, only one was written by a woman. So I make up for it in poetry.
My poetry unit is on hiatus until April 20th, but this will be one that we start with. If you have time, listen to the audio clip of the author reading it.
