I like to be with family or friends on holidays, but as far as I knew, not a single friend I have in Bowling Green was going to be in town. So I made plans to keep busy so it would feel like any other day and I wouldn’t be sad.
Late Tuesday night, two lovely emails from BG friends arrived–one with an offer of dinner, the other with an offer of watching the city fireworks–and so the day turned out to be so fun! I completely reorganized my huge walk-in closet and purged some clothes, had a yummy dinner (with a perfectly cooked steak), followed by the BEST fireworks I have ever seen in my life. The show was at least 30 minutes long (which is crazy long and my neck is still a little sore) and at the end, I felt like a kid again, I was so impressed by the finale.
Bowling Green really is a nice little town–normally I stay far away from large community gatherings, but the crowd last night was nice-sized and docile. It was a good Fourth of July in northwest Ohio.
