#96 The Searchers

The Searchers is a Western. Yeah. Refer to my post on Unforgiven for the rant on westerns.

I did stay awake for the whole film, and I did want to see if John Wayne actually ever found little Debbie (ha. Little Debbie. Get it?) so that plot point held my interest. The reason I think this film made the list is because it was directed by John Ford. I do love John Ford as a director, although I think How Green Was My Valley is a far superior film, mostly because of the script. So now my dad can rest easy knowing I’ve seen a John Wayne film other than McLintock.

Seemed to be a day of movies, as we saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith (loved it!) and The Aviator (Howard Hughes was a nutcase) and then The Searchers tonight. Hey, it’s hot in DC and staying inside a cool apartment was much more appealing than fighting the rest of the tourists here.

Happy Sunday to all, and to all a good night.
